Collection: Gold Vermeil Seaglass Pendants
Gold Vermeil or the technique of gilding silver with gold dates back centuries, with early examples in Etruscan and Greek metalwork. The modern term "vermeil" originated in 18th Century France.
Gold vermeil offers the look and feel of solid gold at a more affordable price, combining a precious silver base with a thick, high-quality gold layer. It has to meet specific criteria: the base metal must be sterling silver (.925), the gold layer must be at least 10 karats, and the gold coating must be a minimum of 2.5 microns thick. This distinguishes it from standard gold-plated jewelry, which can use any base metal and often has a much thinner gold layer
